🎟️ How to Enter Pokémon Card Lotteries in Japan
Winning sealed Pokémon booster boxes at 定価 (list price) — the 抽選 system
Hot Pokémon boxes almost never sit on a shelf at list price. They sell by 抽選 (chūsen, lottery): apply in a window, a random draw picks winners, winners buy one box at 定価. A single product runs dozens of independent lotteries across retailers at once — each a separate draw you can enter — so the winning strategy is breadth. Anything "in stock" on a marketplace is a scalper at 2×.
⚡ The short version
- Pokémon Center Online is your #1 shot — do the My Number Card verification to get into the high-allocation lane (below).
- Then cast a wide net across the other free online lotteries — each is a separate draw.
- Front-load the odds-boosters (weeks ahead): AmiAmi mail-mag + purchase history (draw priority); Yodobashi / Joshin purchase history + rank (their gates thin the pool, ~16.9% at Yodobashi).
- File the free ones: Amazon 招待リクエスト (valid ~12 months) and 楽天ブックス, Toys"R"Us nationwide.
⭐ Your biggest lever: Pokémon Center's verified lane
💻 Online lotteries (定価)
Pokémon Center Online + Players Club
Official Verified lane ✔✔Two accounts (PCO shopping + Players Club) linked by an identical email.
How: in Players Club do 本人認証 with a My Number Card → apply on PCO to the 本人認証済み枠 of each product.
Why #1: verified lane = majority of allocation. Limit 1/product/person; not first-come; past buyers of the same box excluded. Pay: card or konbini (unverified lane = card + 3D Secure only).

楽天ブックス (Rakuten Books)
OnlineHow: log in → tap 抽選エントリー (web, no app). ~2–4 day window; email to winners + マイページ. Card only; complete manually or it auto-cancels. Limit 1/household; some rounds need prior RB history. Rank ≠ odds.

あみあみ (AmiAmi)

ヨドバシ.com
Online Pool-thinned ✔Eligibility: account + purchase history (~2yr) or store history with point-card unification. Apply in a browser, ~2-day window. Reported win rate ~16.9% (gate thins the pool). Delivery or store pickup.
🔗 ヨドバシ抽選
Joshin / ヤマダ / エディオン
App/OnlineJoshin: Smile会員 rank gate (higher rank = higher-tier lottery; updates monthly).
ヤマダ: app only + store purchase history.
エディオン: SMS/電話認証 required; only some stores. All: pickup with ID, multi-account banned.
🏬 In store
Convenience stores — packs, not boxes
In store, conbini sell loose packs at 定価 (先着 on release morning, e.g. 5/person) and character くじ — not sealed boxes. Their e-commerce arms (セブンネット, ファミマオンライン) sometimes run web lotteries gated by order history.
Toys"R"Us / Babies"R"Us — nationwide 定価 lottery
Runs nationwide 抽選 at 定価 for hot Pokémon products (recently the 30th CELEBRATION card set) — one of the widest-reach 定価 routes. Apply online/in-store by the deadline; winners announced, then buy at release.
Electronics big-box stores (発売日)
Generally no open walk-in. Two per-store models announced on the store's 公式X: 整理券 (numbered ticket) → buy in order (getting it is 先着, queue early), or 事前抽選 → winners buy (gated to app members with history). Often card-only + shrink-less anti-resale.
Card shops
Lotteries, not first-come, 1 box/person, strict anti-multi-entry: カードラボ (当選メール → 店頭予約 w/ 内金), ホビーステーション (LivePocket, store pickup only, ID at pickup), 晴れる屋/2 (LivePocket), plus カードボックス, 竜星のPAO, 三洋堂, カードコレクト.
🎯 What actually moves your odds
| Effect | Where | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Improves odds | Pokémon Center (verified lane); AmiAmi; Joshin; Yodobashi/Yamada/Bic (indirect) | PCO 本人認証済み枠 = majority of allocation (verify via My Number Card) — the biggest lever. AmiAmi mail-mag + history = draw priority. Raise Joshin rank. History gates thin the pool (Yodobashi ~16.9%). Favor suburban over central-Tokyo stores. |
| Eligibility gate (not weighting) | Most channels | An account/app everywhere. SMS at Edion. Purchase history at Yodobashi/Yamada/Bic/セブンネット. Rank at Joshin. My Number card as ID at Bic. |
| Prevents multi-entry (no odds effect) | Everywhere | One-account/household/store rules, ID at pickup, SMS. Rakuten rank & Amazon Prime are not odds factors. |

❓ FAQ
Does giving my My Number improve my odds?
Only through Pokémon Center Online's verified lane — completing My Number-Card verification there puts you in the pool that gets most of the allocation. It's the verified status that counts, not the digits. At third-party retailers (Rakuten, Amazon, Yodobashi, card shops) My Number does nothing for odds; by law it's limited to tax / social-security use.
Is it the number or the card that matters?
The card — as an identity-verification method on Pokémon Center, and elsewhere as a photo-ID document (like a driver's licence; e.g. Bic Camera accepts it in-store to stop multi-entry). The number itself is never a weighting factor.
Is it first-come? Should I apply the moment it opens?
No — it's a random draw, not first-come. Applying early doesn't help; just apply any time before the deadline.
Can I enter the same box at several retailers?
Yes. Each retailer runs a separate, independent draw (one entry per retailer), so entering many raises your overall chance. That's the core strategy.
What if I win more than one?
You're expected to buy each within its order window, so only keep entries for boxes you'd actually pay for.
Do I need a Japanese address?
Yes — winners ship to a Japan address, and most of these lotteries are Japan-only.
