Pokémon 30th CELEBRATION: singles, a box or the Card Set?
The short answer
Buy the singles you want. A sealed box of 30th CELEBRATION (拡張パック「30th CELEBRATION」, set M6a) trades at about ¥26,000, 3.6 times its ¥7,200 list price: about what its cards would cost at shop asking prices, by our estimate, and well above the roughly ¥15,500 they'd likely sell for. The Card Set lotteries closing this week are, in practice, for Japan residents. Most of the value sits in three Mew missing from the official card list: shops ask ¥398,000 to ¥648,000 for them, all sold out, and only seven of the 166 cards we price ask ¥10,000 or more at both shops.
What's in the set
The Pokémon Company released 30th CELEBRATION on 16 Sep 2026, according to its product page. A ¥360 pack holds six holo cards, two of them fixed: one of 30 Pikachu, each by a different illustrator (017 to 046/103), and one basic Energy designed by the artist YOSHIROTTEN. Four cards per pack are random.
The money sits above the 103-card main set. Shop listings put 20 Illustration Rares (AR) at 104 to 123 and ten Special Illustration Rares (SAR) at 124 to 133. A new rarity, FUR (Futuristic Rare), covers Mewtwo ex and Mew ex at 134 and 135. Numbers 136 to 165 are 30 reprints from the game's history, from the 1996 Pikachu to Charizard and Magikarp.
Then there are three Mew whose number field reads R, G or B. The Pokémon Company has published no number, rarity or name for them, according to Toreget, a Japanese lottery-tracking site, writing on PR TIMES on 16 Sep. "RGB Mew" is a collectors' nickname.
The cards that carry the price
The twelve most expensive cards in our data, with each shop's asking price when we checked on the morning of 2 Oct 2026. Shop prices move during the day: by the afternoon Card Rush had Charizard at ¥24,800 with 61 in stock and Lugia back in stock at ¥26,800. All 167 cards we track are on the 30th CELEBRATION set page.
| Card | Number | Rarity | Card Rush | Yuyu-tei |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mew (red) | R/RGB | none printed | ¥648,000 (sold out) | ¥598,000 (sold out) |
| Mew (blue) | B/RGB | none printed | ¥498,000 (sold out) | ¥498,000 (sold out) |
| Mew (green) | G/RGB | none printed | ¥428,000 (sold out) | ¥398,000 (sold out) |
| Charizard | 137/103 | reprint | ¥27,800 | ¥24,800 (sold out) |
| Lugia | 142/103 | reprint | ¥26,800 (sold out) | ¥24,800 (sold out) |
| Pikachu ex | 127/103 | SAR | ¥11,800 | ¥12,800 |
| Mew ex | 135/103 | FUR | ¥10,400 | ¥12,800 |
| Mew ex | 129/103 | SAR | ¥10,800 (sold out) | ¥9,980 |
| Pikachu ex | 126/103 | SAR | ¥7,980 | ¥9,980 (sold out) |
| Gengar ex | 131/103 | SAR | ¥7,480 | ¥8,980 (sold out) |
| Mewtwo ex | 134/103 | FUR | ¥7,480 | ¥7,980 |
| Magikarp | 165/103 | reprint | ¥7,280 (sold out) | ¥7,980 (sold out) |
After the Mew the drop is steep: the fourth card asks under a tenth of the cheapest Mew. Our median card asks ¥220, and 119 of 166 priced cards ask under ¥500. Neither shop had a Mew in stock, so those rows are what shops would charge, not offers you can take.
The chase cards have fallen since release: Card Rush asked ¥1,280,000 for the red Mew on 16 Sep, according to Gamepedia's (攻略大百科) price history, against ¥648,000 now. Some reprints rose: Gamepedia records Card Rush's buy price for Lugia up ¥7,000 in the week to 2 Oct, while Charizard and Magikarp slipped.
A box at ¥26,000: what's inside on average
The box lists at ¥7,200 and holds 20 packs (¥7,200 at ¥360 a pack; the 400-box opening sample below counted 8,000 packs). SNKRDUNK's daily average for a sealed box was ¥26,203 on 2 Oct, against a release-day median of ¥17,500 there, according to Toreget. Loose packs go for about ¥720 each in lots on Yahoo! Auctions, by our estimate; we haven't saved that scrape yet, so treat it as rough.
With no official pull rates, our pack-odds model skips this set. Instead we priced what one 400-box opening sample and Gamepedia's estimates say a box holds, at our average asking prices:
| Slot | Per box (fan estimate) | Average asking price, 2 Oct | Value per box |
|---|---|---|---|
| SAR | 1 | ¥5,560 | ¥5,560 |
| History reprint | 2 | ¥3,540 | ¥7,080 |
| AR | 4 | ¥430 | ¥1,740 |
| Double Rare (RR) | about 5 | ¥160 | ¥800 |
| 30th Pikachu | 20, one per pack | ¥290 | ¥5,740 |
| FUR | 1 in 5.5 boxes | ¥8,940 | ¥1,630 |
| R, G or B Mew | 1 in 150 boxes | ¥498,000 (median of six asks) | ¥3,320 |
| Total at asking prices | about ¥25,900 | ||
| At about 60% (what cards tend to sell for) | about ¥15,500 |
Commons, uncommons and Energy are counted as ¥0; the reprint average covers the 28 of 30 reprints we price; the Mew asks are for sold-out cards.
At asking prices an average box is worth about what it resells for. But cards sell for about 60% of the asking price on Yahoo! Auctions, our rule of thumb across sets. A collector who buys a box at ¥26,000 and sells the pulls should expect to lose about ¥10,000. A lottery winner who paid ¥7,200 comes out ahead.
Two assumptions matter. One 400-box sample found a Mew in about 1 in 150 boxes; Gamepedia reports 1 in 100 to 200, unconfirmed. That range moves the total about ¥1,700 up or ¥800 down. And if Charizard and Lugia are scarcer than the other reprints, that row roughly halves.
The Card Set and this week's lotteries
The 30th CELEBRATION Card Set (カードセット) goes on sale on 16 Oct at ¥1,200, in nine versions, one per region's starter trio. Each holds three holo promo starters, two packs of 30th CELEBRATION and a paper stand. At our estimate of ¥720 a loose pack, the two packs alone resell for more than the set costs.
Status on 2 Oct 2026, Japan time; check the retailer before entering:
- Bic Camera, in some stores, 2 to 4 Oct, according to Bic Camera Shinjuku's X account. Needs your physical My Number Card and a Bic point card registered by 27 Sep. Hours vary by store. Results 15 Oct.
- Don Quijote, majica app, until 4 Oct 23:59, results 15 Oct, per aggregators (unconfirmed). Winners reportedly get a random version.
- Sanyodo (nine-set bundle, members only, one per person, at Sanyodo Toreca-kan and Hobby Planet stores), until 4 Oct per aggregators. Its form says winners hear by email on 14 Oct and collect 16 to 18 Oct with the member card, the email and ID.
- EDION, members only, 2 Oct 10:00 to 4 Oct 23:59, entry by SMS code, nine-version bundle only. Toreca Capital runs a separate store lottery at the same time, and entering both voids every entry.
- Coming up, per aggregators and not yet confirmed by the shops: Kiddy Land 5 to 7 Oct, Yodobashi.com 5 to 6 Oct, Hobby Zone 9 to 11 Oct.
Pokémon Center Online sells only the nine-version bundle (¥10,800), and most of its winning places go to people verified with a My Number Card. In a self-reported survey of 552 entrants to PCO's August box lottery, Toreget found 60.6% of verified entrants won against 23.9% of unverified ones. PCO also plans an extra lottery for the 30th CELEBRATION box around December, Inside reported on 29 Sep; details are to follow. Our lottery calendar tracks the dates, and the lotteries guide explains how they work.
Buying from abroad
These lotteries aren't built for overseas buyers. Pokémon Center Online's verified lotteries need a My Number Card, which Japan issues to residents, or a verified phone number, per its support page. Shop lotteries end at a counter in Japan with ID or a membership card, and GEO's notice of 18 Sep bans proxy purchases outright.
The routes that work are secondary:
- Mercari's Global App sells from Mercari Japan to buyers in the US, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Mercari banned sealed 30th CELEBRATION packs and Card Sets from 16 Sep for a limited period, according to Toreget, so it's for singles.
- SNKRDUNK's English site includes shipping and charges a 3.5% fee (fee page, 2 Oct); you pay any import duty.
- Card Rush doesn't ship abroad but accepts orders to a forwarding company, with no returns for change of mind. Yuyu-tei's FAQ says it doesn't ship overseas.
- Proxy and forwarding services include Buyee, ZenMarket, FROM JAPAN, Neokyo, Japan Rabbit and Blackship (named, not endorsed).
What this means for you
- Chasing singles: buy the card, not the box. Card Rush's FUR Mew ex fell from ¥29,800 at release to ¥10,400, per Gamepedia. Pikachu ex 127 was in stock at both shops on 2 Oct; add what you want to the free collection tracker and watch it first.
- Buying a box: at ¥26,000 it's for opening or keeping sealed, not a bet that pays on average. It rose about half in two weeks, and nothing says the next two go the same way.
- The Card Set from abroad: realistically, wait for 16 Oct and buy on the secondary market.
Method and limits
- Card prices are Card Rush and Yuyu-tei asking prices collected by CardMochi on 2 Oct 2026, not sales. Cards usually sell for about 60% of that.
- The box price is SNKRDUNK's own daily average for 2 Oct. Our Yahoo! Auctions box and pack-lot scrape isn't in our data file yet, so the ¥720 pack figure is an estimate.
- We have no sold prices for M6a singles yet; our Yahoo! Auctions matching hasn't confirmed one.
- Our database lacks rarity for 127 of 167 cards; the labels here come from Card Rush and Yuyu-tei. The official database doesn't list 104 to 135 yet, and there's no official set total.
- Pull rates come from one 400-box opening sample, plus Gamepedia's estimates, not official.
