Prices as of 2026-10-16, updated weekly: the cheapest Japanese shop price for a near-mint copy. A card with no Japanese shop price shows "no price", with PriceCharting's US sold price as a reference when there is one (not counted in values).

Your odds at MSRP

The chance that the cards you pull are worth more than you paid at the MSRP (¥180 a pack), opening sealed packs nobody has searched. Only Art Rares and up count, at today's Japanese shop prices; commons and other bulk count as ¥0.

You openYou payChance to get more backTypical pull
1 pack¥18014%¥0
5 packs¥9008–10%¥220
10 packs¥1,80010–13%¥440
1 box (30 packs)¥5,4007–12%¥1,620

Why a box is different: a box isn't 30 random packs. Japanese boxes follow a pattern, about 3 Art Rares and 1–2 Super Rares in every box, so a box almost never comes up empty, but whether it beats its ¥5,400 cost depends mostly on an SAR (about one box in 3–6). That's why the box chance here is lower than for 10 loose packs.

These are estimates: The Pokémon Company doesn't publish pull rates. Rates from opening reports (torecolle, cardchusen); a range means the sources disagree on the SAR rate. Shop prices are asking prices: Pokémon cards actually sell for less (about 60% on Yahoo! Auctions), so treat these as a best case. Typical pull = the median value of what you'd open.

Is a box worth opening?

A box costs ¥17,400 today (SNKRDUNK, 3.2× the ¥5,400 MSRP). An average box holds about ¥7,413–10,282 of Art Rares and up at asking prices: ¥426–591 back per ¥1,000 spent. Best value of the 3 sets below. On average a sealed box returns about 51% of its price, so buying the single card you want is cheaper.

Chase odds: between 1 box in 3 and 1 in 6 has an SAR; about 1 box in 50 has the Mega Hyper Rare (Mega Charizard X ex, ¥138,000).

SetBox todayAvg box holdsBack per ¥1,000

Storm Emeralda¥11,800 (2× list)¥5,367¥455
Abyss Eye¥9,480 (1.6× list)¥3,456–4,381¥365–462

Estimate, same assumptions as the odds above: about 3 Art Rares and 1.5 Super Rares a box, the SAR and Mega Hyper Rare rates from the opening reports, bulk counted as ¥0, each card at its average Japanese shop asking price (cards sell for less, about 60%). Box price: lowest in-stock price today.
